Senior Addison Locke has been a staff member on The Cardinal Times since her junior year after taking Intro to Mass Communications her sophomore year. In her junior year she accepted the role of business manager, and advanced to managing print editor in her senior year. Locke was attracted to the newspaper because of its uniqueness.
“It was a different writing style and that really interested me. I also love reading that kind of thing, so it was really cool to see how it worked behind the scenes,” said Locke.
Locke plans to attend the University of Westminster in London for fashion marketing and promotion. She desires a relaxing and specific life after college.
“I really want to own a home. I love looking at the different fabric swatches and the little carpets,” said Locke. “Hopefully I’m making big-girl money and I’ll be able to put a down payment on a home and have my own little sanctuary with my ten poodles.”
Locke’s creative and bold persona has led her to contribute articles such as “Seniors are so done they’re not even finishing their senten…” and quizzes like “What cafeteria lunch food are you?”
One of Locke’s friends, senior Maddie Lindsay, says Locke’s lighthearted and friendly personality is a key aspect to the overall upbeat and positive vibes she brings to a room.
“She’s very much trying to keep things light and humorous. She always goes for something that’s going to make people laugh,” said Lindsay. “She puts a lot of effort into her work.”
Locke’s work ethic is a reflection of her mother’s; Locke says her biggest inspiration is her mom.
“She’s a really hard worker,” said Locke. “She’s so multifaceted, and she’s so awesome and funny too. She comes home and she’s like ‘I’m going to bed at 7 p.m.’ and that’s the life I want to be living.”
