Boys win, girls lose last home game against Grant

Senior Trent Callan fakes out a Grant defender as the Cardinals beat the Generals 49-34 in the final home game Feb. 20.

The Cardinal Coliseum was packed on senior night with students  who came to see Lincoln’s last home varsity basketball games against Grant on Feb. 20.

The girls (13-2, 17-6) lost their game 41-39 but retain their second-place league standing behind the Generals. Top scorers were seniors Reilly Johnson with 11 points and Noheaililani Waiwaiole with 9 points.

The boys (11-4, 15-8) won their game 49-34 in a three-point shower. Winning comfortably, the team not only ended its three-game loss streak, but also held Grant to 0 points in the fourth quarter to keep its second-place league position behind Jefferson. Top scorer was Trent Callan with 18 points.

Both teams will play Cleveland for Lincoln’s last league game on Feb. 24. The girls will play at home, and the boys will be at Cleveland. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. The Warriors beat Lincoln’ boys 66-48 earlier in the season; Lincoln’s girls won 70-46.
