JV volleyballers host fundraiser

The JV and varsity volleyball teams hosted a volleyball skills and sleepover camp in the gym Oct. 4. Middle school players from all over Portland came to the camp. The event started with a two-hour coaching session, followed with all the players gathering for pizza, movies, and team bonding games. “We decided to host a camp, to help raise money for the volleyball program,” said sophomore Laurel McGrane.

“It was a great experience, I really bonded with other volleyball players, and it made me feel good to know I was also helping out my school,” said sophomore Bella Crepeaux. According to The Oregonian, Portland Public Schools has the smallest budget ever for athletics, forcing many teams to get creative with ways to raise money.
