Frank Petrik (Band)
Band and instrumental music director Frank Petrik is in his first year teaching at Lincoln, but he’s taught at other schools for 27 years. The band programs at Lincoln consist of jazz band, symphonic band and the Freshman Leadership Inquiry (FLI) concert band. Petrik said he aims to establish a positive band environment.
“The number one goal is to create a band program that’s a family atmosphere and be able to get to know the students and help them grow musically. The other goal is to expand on the options available for students within the band program,” said Petrik.
Petrik speaks highly of the benefits of joining the band program.
“[Band] gives you an outlet to be expressive, to create art, and to work with others in a way where you create one product. Working together like that is a lot of fun,” said Petrik.
Petrik is excited about future band performances.
“All the students in the band program are amazing, wonderful people. Our concert is December 18th, and we hope everyone comes and attends that,” said Petrik.
Tracie Talerico (Theater)
Tracie Talerico has been teaching theater at Lincoln since the fall of 2022. She strives for variety when deciding which shows to produce.
“My goal is always to create a different experience, that every show has a unique perspective you didn’t have the year before,” said Talerico. “I think [the new equipment has] motivated the kids in wanting to explore ways we can do things even better than before because we have [these resources] at our disposal.”
Talerico welcomes people with all skill sets to join theater.
“I truly believe there’s a place for every single person to do theater. … It’s not just for performers. It’s for anybody who has any interest in creativity,” said Talerico.
Talerico appreciates how theater unites people through new experiences.
“I love how everybody comes from all different walks of life … and then we have the ability to take you away [from] whatever it is that was going on in your world. It’s not a part of what’s happening in that moment,” said Talerico.
