Senior Adeline Jackson’s favorite memory of high school has been participating in cross country. During her time in cross country, she has been inspired by one of her coaches, Marie Markham.
“I think [Coach Marie is] a very impressive woman. She’s very sweet. She’s a very good coach. I know that she was [also] a very good runner. She ran D1 for U of O,” said Jackson.
Along with being an athlete, Jackson also has a passion for the environment. In the future, she plans on having a career centered around preserving nature.
“I’m not sure exactly what I want to do, but one of the things I’m interested in is conservation [of nature] cause I think it’s really important to preserve nature and the environment, just kind of fighting climate change and the other crises affecting the natural world,” Jackson said.
Her interest in conservation has led her to enjoy the outdoors, which contributes to her desire to travel.
“[I want to go] somewhere in South America, or the Amazon Rainforest, so probably Brazil. I just love the jungle. I think it’s so cool like all the different animals, species and plants,” said Jackson. “And probably along the coast [because] I also love the ocean.”
Her main goal for the future is to have a life she enjoys.
“To be successful and happy. Successful, meaning I have a job that I really enjoy, a stable lifestyle inside of that and [I enjoy] what I do inside and outside of work,” said Jackson.
A piece of advice Jackson has for the underclassmen is to get their work done so they can enjoy their free time.
“Don’t procrastinate, even if the work is boring it’s more important to get it done and fully enjoy your free time rather than letting it build up,” said Jackson.
