What is your name and pronouns?
“Claire Tirapelle she/her”
What is your position at Lincoln?
“I am a new school counselor”
What made you want to come to Lincoln?
“I think there’s just an excitement to work with students at Lincoln, specifically in this age range where students are making decisions about what they want to do after high school. It excites me to be in a space where students are making decisions to do all kinds of things all over the states and the world; It’s fun to be a part of that.”
Where were you before this?
“I was at Franklin last year, and previously, was a high school math teacher (not in Portland) which has been [my] path to school counseling.”
Why did you decide to go into the counseling field?
“I was writing a letter of recommendation for a past student in my math class, saw the counselor recommendation piece, and thought “Wow, that’s probably a lot of recommendations to write”. How cool to have relationships with students throughout the years, to get to know them, and be able to write all these recommendations because I know students that well.”
What are some of your hobbies?
“I like to go for walks in the neighborhood. I love to play tennis. I love the sunshine, so almost anything outside in the sunshine is great. And I love to garden.”
What are you looking forward to this school year?
“I’m most looking forward to getting to know my students. So if you’re in my portion of the alphabet, come and say ‘Hi’. Introduce yourself!”
