Boys water polo: This season, the boys water polo team hired assistant coach Cameron Williams, and is focusing on the team’s cohesiveness under head coach Kai Geringer. “Our season would be best used getting experience for the younger players,” said senior Drew Stanton.
Girls water polo: The girls water polo team has a record number of 9 freshmen this year. Senior Ani Aguilar, who plays set offense has one overall goal for her teammates: “To have fun and play the best that we can.”
Girls soccer: Girls soccer, led by coaches Kendall Johnson and Michael Mercado, is looking to place well at state. Senior Neve Erdman, who plays center-back, said that “Winning state is the overarching goal.”
Boys soccer: The team is hoping to win the Portland Interscholastic League (PIL) championship once again this year. “Winning the PIL is a big step to winning the state,” said senior Renn Shah, who plays central defensive midfielder.
Volleyball: Varsity volleyball has a big team this year with 17 players. Senior Anna Jensen, who plays Defensive Specialist wants to bring the team together. “[I want to] make sure everybody is on the same page as far as mutual support,” said Jensen.
Dance: Senior and dance team captain Alissa Kim says the team is starting to learn their fall routines. “[We are] working on everything we need to know about our dances so we can show up our best for future competitions,” said Kim.
Football: The football team is focusing on how they can strengthen their defense and beat more PIL teams than they did last year. “We want to improve on our offense and turn [it] into more of a passing offense,” said senior Oliver Brunn, who plays as a defensive end.
Boys cross country: Boys cross country has started off strong with some massive personal records at their first race. Senior Finn Lee said the team’s goal is to “Build confidence as a team which hopefully will propel us to win the district championship and qualify for state.”
Girls Cross country: Girls cross country are working hard in each and every practice to achieve their collective goal. Senior Isabella Della Corte said they hope to “Be state champs and win districts on the varsity and junior varsity level.”
