Eloise Hook has been a committed member of the yearbook since her freshman year. Next year, she plans on majoring in food science at Cal Poly.

Senior Eloise Hook has not wasted a moment of her time here at Lincoln. She’s been involved in many classes and activities including dance, culinary and yearbook. Hook has also taken on many leadership roles, including being manager of the Lincoln coffee cart, teaching assistant for culinary and co-editor-in-chief of the 2023-2024 yearbook.

“I just did [yearbook] that first year and I got to be in an editor role,” said Hook. “I was a production editor starting as a freshman and I really liked the teamwork and putting together a book for the school, so I’ve just continued since.”

As co-editor-in-chief, Hook carries many responsibilities.

“As editor you also have to help decide the theme, fonts, colors, layouts, what the order of the yearbook is going be, what pages you are going include and then there’s some pages that just [only] editors do, like the introduction, the colophon, the index and then all of the school photos,” explained Hook.

All of this hard work pays off at the end of the year once the book is complete; Hook says this is her favorite part.

“The release party, seeing everyone really happy [and] looking through the new book [is my favorite part],” said Hook.

In addition to yearbook, Hook also took on leadership roles in culinary, where she works closely with Chef Melanie Hammericksen.

“She is the coffee cart manager and she’s also my TA and right hand woman,” said Hammericksen.

Hook is excited to continue her culinary journey at Cal Poly, where she’s majoring in food science.

“It’s a nice combination of food that I love from culinary and biology and chemistry,” said Hook.

Hooks says she’s learned many valuable things in the culinary and yearbook programs that she will carry with her to future education and jobs.

“I’ve learned a lot about community building, team building, and working with other people,” said Hook.

After spending four years putting in lots of hard work and making contributions to these programs and businesses at Lincoln, seeing her leave will be a bittersweet moment for many.

“Eloise is amazing,” said Chef Hammerickson. “I don’t know what I’m going to do without her.”
