Currently, the freshman class is the biggest class at Lincoln, with a total of 414 students; compared to the senior class of 379, the junior class of 391 and the sophomore class of 400.
However, it is still made up of individuals with varied experiences during their first weeks of school.
Freshman Camila Sahagun reflected on the transition into a new school.
“The process was very smooth,” Sahagun said. “I think the most challenging part was meeting new people and finding people that would be similar to me.”
Freshman Gautam Shanmugam focused on the academic challenges of coming into high school.
“It’s very exciting, you see a lot of people you know,” said Shanmugam. “It’s also overwhelming since this is the new Lincoln building. There have been a lot of class displacements though, [with] the quantity of people. My FLI (Freshman Inquiry and Leadership) class was completely switched since [a large] amount of students had joined, they had to include a new class.”
Shanmugam believes that coming to a new school, especially one with so many students, can be overwhelming, but otherwise it has been a positive experience.
“It’s been a very fun experience going into high school and the new building has really been great,” said Shanmugam. “It’s been a good year so far.”
