CORRECTION on costs for photography

In the print edition of The Cardinal Times dated June 13, we misstated costs for photography students. According to photography teacher Nancy Abens, the average photo student will spend $36 on film and up to $60 on paper. A box of 100 5×7 sheets is $25, and 25 sheets of 8×10 paper is $16.

Most students get by with about 1.5 boxes of each, she said,  “So, a total cost of film and paper for the average student is under $100.” Abens also said she had 15 cameras that are rented out for the year at $20, and many students find used cameras for anywhere from $25 to $200. In the digital class, students often use their phones or point-and-shoot digitals that run from $125-$300. “It is totally unnecessary to spend $400 on a camera for my classes,” she said.
