Islander club hosts film showing

The Pacific Islander Student Union will be holding a showing of the Samoan film, “The Orator,” in the auditorium Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.

Senior Tevita Pulu will play the ukelele before the film begins.

The film, directed by Tusi Tamasese, is the first-ever Samoan feature film with a Samoan cast and setting and presents an opportunity to learn about Samoan and Pacific Islander culture. Admission is free for students and $6 for adults.

“I’ve researched a little bit about this movie. I think it’ll offer a really honest look into this lifestyle,” said sophomore Gaby Lemieux. “I read some of the reviews, and I think it’ll be excellent,” said Barbara Brown, literature teacher.
