PPS Students Compete in District-Wide 3rd Annual Slam Poetry Competition

Only 20 students from PPS competed in the Portland Public School’s poetry slam competition, “Verselandia”. Lincoln, Wilson, Benson, Cleveland, Franklin, Grant, Jefferson, MLC, Madison, and Roosevelt each brought two students. Representing Lincoln were senior McKinley Rodriguez and sophomore Nube Maza. 
 
Alex Gerald from Grant received 5th place, Sam Bernett from Franklin received 4th place, Juan Ordaz from Franklin received 3rd place, McKinley Rodriguez from Lincoln received 2nd place, and Bella Trent from Madison won the competition. The top 5 students were given the honor of performing at Weiden-Kennedy the following week.
