ISC international food festival serves up a successful evening

More than $1,000 was raised by the International Studies Center at the International Food Festival held at Mercy Corps May 26.

The banquet featured traditional dishes from all over the world. Students who attended were given a punch card for $5 with which they could try out dishes ranging from potato pancakes to pad thai, all donated by local businesses.

All proceeds were donated to to Island Ventures, a non-profit organization focused on sustainable socio-economic and environmental developments within rural and urban communities of Mactan Island and its surrounding islets in Cebu Province in the Philippines.

“It’s for a really good cause,” said organizer Emily Harris. Fellow ISC member Abigail Meskimen agreed. “We’re hoping it brought the community together,” she said.
