Attendance monitor preps for teaching position

This week’s staff profile introduces Ryan McCants, the school’s attendance monitor. McCants was born and raised in Corona, CA. He graduated from Santiago High School in 2007. In 2011, he graduated from Oregon State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in sociology.

Q: What clubs, sports, or organizations were you involved in during high school?

A: I was involved in football.

Q: What career did you want when you were in high school?

A: I wanted to be a professional football player.

Q: What was your favorite part about high school?

A: The relationships I built with teachers, administrators, and teammates.

Q: What did you dislike most about high school?

A: I disliked the school work.

Q: Who were your role models growing up?

A: My parents were my role models.

Q: Before becoming a staff member, what were your previous jobs?

A: I worked at a psychiatric school and worked at football camps.

Q: Why did you choose to become a staff member?

A: I chose to become a staff member because I’m going to school for teaching and wanted to work in a school.

Q: What advice would you offer to high school students?

A: Take school seriously and participate in school activities.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: I like to watch and plays sports, play video games, and outdoor activities.
