Swimmers return to PIL with first win

The swim teams swept Madison in their first meet of the season Dec. 5 at the Dishman Center.

“There wasn’t much competition with Madison,” sophomore Ciara Chen said. “In some heats there weren’t even any Madison swimmers, so the atmosphere was really relaxed.” The girls won easily, 104-29. It was just as easy for the boys, who beat Madison 107-34.

This is Lincoln’s first year back in the PIL, so swimmers will be facing new competitors. “The women’s team is especially consistent, so I see us doing very well,” assistant coach Kara Wendel said. Lincoln had 50 swimmers in the the meet, led by freshman Garret Smith, junior Bayley Guy, and seniors Daniel Forsland, Kayla Lanker, and Kesiah Clements.
