Gun Threat Causes Brief Lock-Down

A man whose mental health was in question was apprehended by police April 3 by the MAX stop on S.W. 18th and Salmon St. He claimed he had a gun, and as a result several officers used weapons known as “bean bags” to get him under control. The disturbance caused a lock-down in the school after hours around 3:45 p.m. “Luckily we got everything locked down quickly and it was over fast,” said Officer Kilo, a policeman on the scene.

In an email to parents, Principal Peyton Chapman said, “We are thankful for the quick response and the professionalism Portland Police officers demonstrated to keep our school community safe.”
