In middle school, Siri Lindsey never pictured herself joining the high school paper. Since then, she’s discovered a passion for journalism, becoming a sports editor and now finishing her third year on The Cardinal Times.
Lindsey started journalism in the introductory Mass Communications class from the recommendation of an older student, and she soon found her love for writing about sports.
Lindsey says that the paper is a great way to meet new people and make lifelong friends.
“Writing articles with my friends and writing stuff other than sports was something new for me, so I liked doing that,” said Lindsey.
Senior Bitsy Cole, a reporter on the paper with Lindsey, admires her work ethic.
“She works really hard and she’s super consistent and diligent,” said Cole.
Off the paper, Lindsey enjoys spending time with her family and playing basketball.
Lindsey played varsity basketball for Lincoln all four years, and she earned Portland Interscholastic League (PIL) All-League honors three times, with First Team recognition in her senior year. Her favorite memory from Lincoln is playing basketball with her younger sister, Jasa Lindsey, a sophomore who is also a reporter on The Cardinal Times.
Lindsey plans to play basketball at the University of Alaska Fairbanks to eventually become a sports journalist.
“Just find something that you like,” Lindsey advises, whether that is a class, a sport or any other activity that brings you joy.
