Originally, in the old Portland High School at what is now PSU, the Abraham Lincoln statue on the second floor was nicknamed ̈butter Lincoln ̈ for the statue’s yellow color. The statue has been at Lincoln since 1912 and has endured multiple relocations throughout the years. A targeted attack left him beheaded and missing his right arm. In need of statue-saving surgery, the statue was sent off to be repaired at a cost of over $1,000.
