Senior Rose O’Neill has been riding horses for ten years. She is currently on the equestrian team, where she participates in competitions. She is inspired by her equestrian coach.
“[Olive Trump]… does all of her coaching as a volunteer, and she doesn’t get paid for any of it,” said O’Neill. “She… gives so much of her time to us, helping us with [every]thing, coaching us through tough moments … I think that’s really inspiring.”
Much of O’Neill’s life centers around horses. In the future, she hopes to continue working with them.
“After I get my college degree, I really hope to travel the world and to learn about different cultures, maybe even help out or work with horses in other countries. I think that would be super cool to learn how other countries work with horses,” said O’Neill. “One day I want to own or start my own ranch and teach other people how to ride, which is one of the things I do right now, but I want to be the manager.”
O’Neill advises underclassmen to take harder classes during junior year.
“Take a lot of your difficult classes in your junior year, because in your senior year you’re probably going to be super burnt out and you’re not going to want to study… I made the right choice in my junior year by taking all my tough classes then and just kind of getting to relax senior year,” said O’Neill.
