Senior Nidha Eakambaram has been on The Cardinal Times since her sophomore year and took on the role of managing print editor her senior year. She originally joined Mass Communications because not only did it seem like an interesting class, but she was interested in the different types of articles and media that they were doing, such as articles, podcasts and videos. From there, she joined the paper.

“When I joined [The Cardinal Times], I wanted to learn a different style of writing and to see what news writing was really about,” said Eakambaram.

Eakambaram’s favorite part about being a part of The Cardinal Times is the balance between individual creativity and collaborative production.

“We all have our own individual projects. But, at the end [of a production cycle], it comes together to create something really cool where there is a lot of diversity and you really get to see everyone’s creativity,” said Eakambaram.

Her close friend and senior, Naomi Elder-Morasco admires Eakambaram’s determination and drive, both inside and outside the classroom.

“[I admire] how strong willed of a person she is. She works so hard in…all parts of life to make sure she is getting the most out of it she feels she can,” said Elder-Morasco. “She never really slacks off, she holds herself to a high standard and I think that’s a really admirable quality in a person, especially in a high school student.”

In the fall, Eakambaram will be attending Northeastern University as part of the London Scholars program, where she will spend the entirety of her first year studying in London.

Before she leaves Lincoln, Eakambaram offers some advice for younger students.

“High school is a chance to try out new opportunities. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I got older, but then I had the chance to try new things and take different classes. I ended up really enjoying History and English, which ended up changing my plans.”
