Senior Sophie Monahan is a first-year reporter for The Cardinal Times. She decided to join after being featured on a podcast a year prior. Monahan enjoys how The Cardinal Times suits anyone who wants to pursue different aspects of journalism.
“I found it so fun. I really liked the [podcast] room, and I just liked the whole process [podcasting], so it made me intrigued and I really wanted to join the class,” said Monahan. “Going into my senior year, I had a few free periods, so I thought I could sign up for it and see if I could get into the class.”
Monahan was a reporter for The Cardinal Times this year, as she has worked on various projects throughout the year, including multiple reviews, profiles, and the famous “Locker Partners” with Sydney Isaac. Monahan says most of her favorite memories took place in the recording studio.
“I feel like I’ve spent so much time in [the podcasting room] this year with Sydney, and I love that room so much. I’ve had some of the best memories in [there],” said Monahan
Alissa Kim and Hannah Robertson, friends of Sophie, admire how Sophie’s effortlessly kind and bubbly personality has brought them many cherishable memories. Kim and Robertson discuss where they see Sophie in the future.
“She’s gonna be successful no matter what she does,” commented Kim. “She’s gonna go to college in Australia, so she’s gonna be living her best life. I don’t really know what she wants to do when she grows up, but I see Sophie thriving anywhere.”
Robertson, on the other hand, sees Sophie taking a different path.
“Dancer, actor, that kind of thing… Like a backup dancer,” laughed Robertson. “I lowkey see her being a reality [television star] like, Dance Moms Abby Lee Miller 2.0, Australia version.”
