In the future, senior Ezra Pero wants to travel to Germany.
“I’ve never been to Europe, and I think it would be a really great experience,” said Pero. “I am a German citizen and I’ve never been … or even met any German relatives.”
The people that help Pero grow as a person are his friends.
“I like to surround myself with friends that inspire me. I think it’s a really great way to build your character,” said Pero. “I would say [senior] Jack Caldwell inspires me. I just feel like he’s very emotionally intelligent and kind. Sometimes I don’t see those traits in myself, so if I see them in him I try [to] work towards that.”
Pero is also eager to better himself.
“I would say I’m passionate about myself and that leads me to try out new things like stay in shape, learn how to draw or take photos, and that passion of wanting to be better leads [to] doing these new things,” said Pero.
Pero has been on the rowing team since freshman year. One of his favorite memories during his high school years is spending time with the team.
“[My] favorite memory is probably walking around Sellwood with a bunch of friends from rowing,” said Pero.
In the future, Pero plans on going to college. He believes it is important to make the most of his experience.
“I’m kind of nervous about college, it’s a new experience and stuff, so I want to work on taking that challenge head on and making the best out of it,” said Pero.
Pero’s advice for underclassmen is to wait because things will get better.
“Junior and senior years are a lot more fun than freshman and sophomore years and if you’re struggling … wait it out, it’s not too long, four years,” said Pero.
