If senior Finn Lee could travel anywhere in the world, it would be London.

“I have a lot of family there,” said Lee.“That’s where my dad’s family is from, and I just don’t visit that often. I think it would be cool to tour around and see what life is like there.”

His grandfather has been a big inspiration in his life.

“… I know he was a lawyer, now he’s retired, but he did a lot of great work. He [helped] out some civil rights activists in the 60s and 70s and … I’m really proud of him for that, and he works really hard,” said Lee. “He’s on a lot of boards around Portland [and] he was a partner at his law firm. He’s just a really high-achieving person and he’s done a lot of really great things throughout his life, and he just inspires me to strive for greatness.”

Lee is passionate about sports and believes that everyone should be able to have access to sports as well as sports-related education.

“I’m really passionate about sports and access to sports. I was in the Boys Scouts and for one of the service projects that I organized for my ranking… for being an Eagle Scout I raised money for a non-profit, [Elite Sports Academy], here in Portland that offers free summer camps in the summer for underprivileged communities. … They teach about being active, being healthy, eating right, healthy habits, healthy lifestyles. They connect youth with resources in Portland. I just think everybody should have the opportunity to play sports, appreciate sports and live a healthy lifestyle,” said Lee. “I think there’s so much to be gained from a team dynamic, so much to be learned. I think [there’s] a lot of character building, there’s a lot of growth that comes along with that, being part of a community like that.”

Lee advises underclassmen to make the most of high school and try new things.

“Make the most of it,” said Lee. “Go to every single assembly, go to every dance, try out for as many teams as possible, join as many clubs as possible. Make the most of your high school experience. It goes by way quicker than you think. Everybody says it goes by quickly, but it genuinely does. … Just put yourself out there and try as many new things as possible.”
