“We Don’t Trust You” is a collaboration between Future and Metro Boomin. It was released on March 22, 2024. I think it is one of the best rap albums of the decade.
“We Don’t Trust You” is Future’s second collaboration with Metro, and the duo released “We Still Don’t Trust You” as another album a month later. The 17-track album was nominated for Best Rap Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
The album opens with the intro “We Don’t Trust You.” In the song, Metro and Future threaten their opponents. Metro uses his producer tag, “Young Metro, Don’t Trust You, I’m gon shoot you.”
“Like That” is one of the more popular songs, featuring Kendrick Lamar. In it, Lamar says, “Motherf*ck the big three … it’s just big me. ” This line started drama between Kendrick and Drake.
I love the album’s combination of Metro’s synth beats with Future’s lyricism. It continues how well these two have worked together in the past, like in “Too Many Nights” from Metro’s album “Heroes and Villains.” Future dropped some of the best verses the rap community has seen in a few years on that song.
“Type Sh*t” uses one of the most underrated beat drops in the song which is a transcendence-type beat from Travis Scott into a bell beat with Playboi Carti that is just beautiful.
On the ninth track of the album “Cinderella” Future says “Sip Red, talk to the devil” referencing his addiction to a materialistic lifestyle under the influence of drugs and alcohol with the word “Red” referring to lean. In the 3rd track, “Ice Attack” Future says “Metro Boomin having cheese, now these n-words nothin but rats” which references how people just try to go after the money and how they can be called “rats”.
Future and Metro dropped the second collaboration album a month later, which was interesting to me and the rap community. I honestly didn’t like the album as much as “We Don’t Trust You” as “We Still Don’t Trust You” featured fewer trap songs and focused on how well Future can rap under a melodic beat. I loved the songs “Red Leather,” “Jealous” and “Came to the Party,” especially J Cole’s beautiful verse with Future’s beats go so well together but everything else was okay.
