Lincoln’s first club fair of the year happened in fall, just three weeks into the school year. However, the clubs made after the first fair had no opportunity to find new members. The spring club fair on Feb. 28 aimed to solve this problem. It gave new clubs an opportunity to recruit members during FLEX time in the commons.

In case you missed the spring club fair, here are a few of  the new clubs featured.

Support Waves:

The club is a student-led support group to help students with processing losses of loved ones. The club has only had one meeting. In the future the club will meet weekly on Mondays during lunch in Linnea Stenhouse’s room. Leaders are Devona Olson and Nay Peck.

Gardening Club:

Junior Nora Hanson leads the Gardening Club.

“[The Gardening Club] takes tours to gardens that are local to Portland,” said Hanson. “We also research and present topics to the rest of our club members about gardening, and even grow our own plants.”

The Gardening Club meets every Monday during lunch in room 221.

Women’s Health and Activism (WHA):

The Women’s Health and Activism club focuses on helping and bringing awareness to the health of women in the Portland area. Sophomore Avery Connelly is one of the club’s leaders.

“[The club is] going to connect with local charities, and centers,” said Connelly.

The club will meet during lunches on Wednesday B-days in room 237.

The Redshift Cardinals:

Lastly, The Redshift Cardinals club plans to focus on astrophysics. Sophomore Dash Tichnor is a club leader.

“[The club will] learn about time values and experiment with model rockets,” said Tichnor. “We’re going to try and make a model of a lunar colony.”

The club will meet during the first flex of every month in room 527, with extra meetings for guest speakers.
