Junior Varsity 2 (JV2) girls volleyball started their year off strong with their non-league record of 11 and 2 while the Junior Varsity (JV) team competed in their non-league play with a record of 6 and 4.

Many of the players on the JV and JV2 teams are freshmen. Some of the freshmen say that the team atmosphere is the best part of playing volleyball at Lincoln.

Freshman Willow Dolin Martin is on JV, she is the opposite hitter for her team. Her favorite part of being on the team is the support she gets from her teammates and the new bonds created from playing together.

“We’re very encouraging of each other,” said Dolin Martin.

The freshmen say they are confident in their season as they develop strengths on the defensive end of their game and build chemistry with their team.

Freshman Ellie Drake on JV believes communication on defense is key to a successful game and she considers it to be a strength of her team this year.

“We’re good at communicating, and we’ll always back each other up,” said Drake.

Drake and Dolin Martin expect to enjoy the rest of their season and look forward to growing with the volleyball program.

To show your support for our JV and JV2 girls volleyball programs, catch their games here at Lincoln or at any away games at the schools around Portland. You can find their schedules at the Oregon School Activities Association website.
