“Melissa Monroe. I’m she/her, but people call me Dr. Mal.”
What is your position at Lincoln?
“I am the QMHP [Qualified Mental Health Professional] for the social and emotional room. I’m a therapist.”
What made you want to come to Lincoln?
“Actually, I didn’t know much about Lincoln. The district put me at Lincoln, but I’m super happy to be here.”
Where were you before this?
“I was at the Pioneer Special School Program working with kindergarteners through 12th grade. I was also a QMHP there.”
Why did you decide to go into this field?
“When I was 10, my brother was diagnosed with bipolar, and he started to see a therapist. I was just enamored. At 10 years old I knew I wanted to be a therapist, and that’s what I’ve devoted [myself] to becoming.”
What are some of your hobbies?
“I love to kayak, garden and I have a Newfoundland dog, so anything with my [dog]. I have a senior in high school, so I hang out with my kid.”
What are you looking forward to this school year?
“Just getting to know Lincoln and being a part of this community. Everyone seems so welcoming so I’m excited to learn.”
