Get to know Lincoln senior Nyilah Lewis! She is passionate about leadership, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Who is your favorite musical artist at the moment and why?

I would say, and this is really an awkward one, but Dean Lewis. I think his music is just more of a home vibe.

Who is someone you look to for inspiration?

Myself, I think just based on my independence and how far I’ve come. I definitely look back and reflect on everything, and it pushes me more to do greater things for myself.

What class has been your favorite at Lincoln?

Leadership has been my favorite class. I get to build community with others and build relationships with the people in the classroom. I think I have more personal, good relationships with them. It also helps me build more advocacy and experience with leadership and skills outside of the classroom.

What has been your favorite memory from senior year so far?

I enjoyed homecoming, senior year. That was the most enjoyable and I went with some friends.

What is one thing that you are passionate about?

I am passionate about diversity and equity within school systems; that is definitely something I have been working towards. To just bring [improvement] to the school I’m in and make sure that everyone feels supported and are offered resources. There are so many resources that people don’t know that they have access to and making them known is something that I am passionate about.

What are you looking forward to for the rest of the year?

I guess to finish strong because the senioritis is kicking in. I also want to make memories for senior year.

Is there any advice you would like to give to underclassmen?

I would say to “be yourself” it is such a two word type of quote but love who you are and bring who you are into this school, celebrate that, and be proud of your accomplishments.
