Lincoln races in first cross country meet of season at Lents Park

The Lincoln cross country team had its first official meet on Wed. Mar 3 against Grant, Benson and McDaniel (formerly Madison) high schools at Lents Park in Portland. The varsity girls’ team swept their race, putting the top five runners in front of any others and scoring a perfect 15 points. The varsity boys’ team scored 17, putting seven athletes in the top eight. The junior varsity boys finished in places 1 through 9 of the JV race, also scoring a perfect 15 points.

Senior Mateo Althouse took the varsity boys’ race in a time of 15:56 for the 5000-meter course, while junior Kendall York won the varsity girls’ race with a time of 18:34.

Athletes were required to race in masks. Lincoln’s next meet is on Saturday at Pier Park.
