Smoke swallows Portland: A gallery

Cate Bikales

The Fremont Bridge appears shadowy in the distance under layers of smoke.

Portland was blanketed with an orange cloud of smoke Wednesday afternoon. Fires all throughout the state have led to countless destroyed homes in Central and Southern Oregon, and the high wind gusts from this week caused the smoke to travel North to the Portland Metro Area.

The Cardinal Times staff documented this smoke, which we have compiled into a gallery below.

Please stay safe during the next few days. There are no evacuation orders posted for Multnomah County. Areas of Tigard, Tualatin and Lake Oswego are on evacuation notice. Clackamas County has declared a state of emergency, with fires from Mt. Jefferson headed North.
