Fencers win first tournament

Eight teams faced off in the October North American Cup fencing tournament, and three Lincoln students competed as part of the Northwest Fencing Center. The tournament took place from Oct. 10-13 at the Oregon Convention Center.

Junior Alexandre Crepeaux, sophomore Michael Hwang, and freshman Julia Espinoza helped the NFC team take first place of the eight teams. “I love fencing because of the requirement of focus and sense of community that the people involved have,” said Crepeaux, who dedicates a lot of time every week to honing his fencing skills, and who was extremely proud of the team’s win. “It’s not every day that your team wins an entire tournament and to know you contributed to that is a really great feeling,” he said.
