Fresh off his Oct. 11 Portland show, teenage Pro Era rapper Joey Bada$$ has been gaining more attention from followers of the modern day hip-hop movement.

His single, “Christ Conscious,” is one of three songs released before the drop of his highly anticipated debut studio album, “B4.DA.$$,” due out this fall. The other two singles, “Get Paid” and “Big Dusty” have been met with positive reviews from eager fans.

In “Christ Conscious,” Bada$$ raps in his stylistic gruff tone, using confident wordplay and boastful, charismatic brags that he’s “coming for the top dollar.” He warns his competitors that he “won’t stop ‘till I reach Christ Conscious,” or a god-like rap status.

As for the minimal background beat, Bada$$ told MTV in an interview that he found it by searching his name on YouTube. “[It] was literally the first beat that popped up, and as soon as I heard it, I started freestyling the song. I reached out to the kid, I was like, ‘Yo, delete this video now. This is mine!’”
