Track Teams Finish Regular Season and Prepare for Championships
Coming off the recent victory by the boy’s team and loss by the girl’s team against Westview on May 7 in their last dual meet of the season, both teams ready themselves for Metro League championships. The boys finished their season with an even three wins and losses, while the girls ended on a lackluster two wins and four losses.
Both teams were able to place in the top five at the Laker Classic, an invitational meet hosted by Lake Oswego, with the boys placing second overall and the girls placing fifth. They also competed strongly in the much larger Jesuit Twilight Relays invitational, placing seventh and thirteenth respectively, amongst teams from across the state.
This week was the teams’ last to practice for the upcoming Metro League Championships being held today, May 14, and on Friday. The top two varsity athletes in each event will be sent to compete against the best athletes from other Metro schools like Jesuit and Beaverton. Top contenders like Tess Michaelson in the 800 meters, Karl Sanft in the shot put, and more will hope to prove themselves against the other best athletes in the league.
