Track teams split with Aloha

The girls’ track team beat Aloha 86-59, and the boys team lost 66-78 in their home meet on April 16.

Both the boys and girls teams have a 2-1 record so far this season, this marking the girls’ first win.

“I was surprised that the boys lost,” said head coach Charlotte Richardson. The reason, she said, was twofold. “We moved a couple of the boys into shorter events because we’re going to the invitational. Also, there were some athletes that didn’t step up and do what they were asked to do.”
In recent weeks, the track team has been facing poor attendance at practices and meets, hence the athletes not steeping.(http://cardinaltimes.org/4312/uncategorized/track-athletes-face-new-attendance-policy/). However, while Richardson is disappointed in the boys’ performance, however, she was pleased with the girls. “The girls’ team surprised me,” she said. “I’m really happy with them; they did a great job.”
Impressive performances include senior Adrianna Coates who won the 300m hurdles in 46.78 and 100m hurdles in 18.05 or junior Kesiah Clement who won the pole vault with 9 feet.
Senior Gabe Collins won the 3000m with a time of 9:22.27 and anchored the winning 4×4 team (3:34.08). Double wins were also posted by senior thrower Karl Sanft in the discus (52’05”) and the javelin (146’02”)
Lincoln will host Jesuit April 23. The meet is expected to be highly competitive, as Jesuit is one of Lincoln’s hardest competitors.
