‘Into the Woods’: spring musical wrap-up
On Sunday, Lincoln Drama concluded their spring musical of “Into the Woods” a fusion of classic fairy tales incorporating song, dance and plenty of humor. Organized in two castings, one cast performed on the first weekend of March 1-3 and the other performed March 8-10. The decision to have two separate casts was a creative decision made by Jim Peerenboom, the drama director for Lincoln , in order to utilize as much talent as possible.
Before the musical, the performers had 3 months of rehearsal. Their singing and dancing performances left audiences with the impression that they had been practicing for years.
“This is a really challenging show. Mr.Kays (band director) and Mrs.Riffel (choir director) worked really hard with the students for the musicality. In the past we’ve not had as strong vocals, but we finally had the student leadership to do this show,” said Mr. Peerenboom, Lincoln’s drama director.
