Brooklyn native rapper, Joey Bada$$, recently released a hype song in preparation for Phil Davis’s UFC light heavy-weight fight against Anthony Johnson, on April 3. The song will be played as Davis’s intro music as he walks out to the octagon.

Hit you with the flying kicks, and iron fists…make your bones flick, when you dome get hit…and your ligaments rip, at your chest, like cigarettes…

— Joey Bada$$

Although only a minute and fifty four seconds long, this short tune packs a punch.

With a nice bass line to start off, the song than transitions into a typical Joey Bada$$, raw east coast style, hip-hop beat. He relates the entire rap to fighting in the octagon, but delivers it with fantastic rhymes and that unique flow he possesses.

The whole attitude of the song encompasses UFC fighting; it has an aggressive undertone and the pounding punch delivered by the beat gets your head bobbing and adrenaline flowing. But of course, it’s Joey Bada$$’s flow and rhymes that really tie it all together. Definitely worth listening to and check out more of Joey Bada$$’s work here.
