Girls Swim to Second at Metro District

A pair of freshmen helped propel the varsity girls to a second-place finish at the Metro League championships held Feb. 14, 15 at Tualatin Hills. The boys were fifth.
Twenty members of the girls’ and boy’s teams will represent Lincoln at state today and tomorrow at Mt. Hood Community College.
Laura Epperson claimed the Metro championship in the 100-yard butterfly in 58.62 and came back to take third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:21.59. Abbie Young was third in the event at 5:26.03. Young also placed third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.89.
Jackson Locke-Harris, junior, claimed fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly in 53.71, and senior Daniel He was fourth in the 50-yard in 22.91. Locke-Harris and He were joined by seniors John Carey and Brendan Carey for fourth  place in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:43.21
The girls compiled 348 points at the meet behind winner Sunset (378n points) and ahead of third-place Jesuit (316 points). The boys tallied 209 points. Sunset claimed the title with 449 points.
