Mixtape Reviews: What you need on your iTunes Library

Revenue of the Dreamers: J. Cole is back at it in 2014 with another exciting and lyrically superior mixtape. In revenge-of-the-dreamers-j-colethis mixtape however, he features others artists such as Omen and Bas, who have their own songs, absent of Cole. Top songs to listen to are “Motion Picture” by Omen, “Revenge of the Dreams” by J. Cole, and I think even the snippet of the beat “Ambitionz az a Ridah” where J. Cole raps over it is awesome.

Summer Knights: The up-and-coming rapper out of Brooklyn, Joey Bada$$, is slowly making a name for himself,c60e84e8 but what really brought attention to the young artist was the release of his mixtape Summer Knights. Yes, this was released in the summer, but Bada$$ is yet to reach true stardom, and this mixtape needs to be promoted. With great New York- influenced beats and melodies, you can begin to feel like you’re being teleported back into the 90’s. Especially with songs like “Death of YOLO”, “95 Til Infinity”, and “Hilary Swank.” Give it a listen.

Innanetape: Vic Mensa released this mixtape in September of 2013 and he is slowly becoming recognized as Vic_Mensa_Innanetape-front-largeanother talented young rapper. He is friends, and essentially a student of, Chance the Rapper. Both grew up in Chicago and interestingly enough they have a similar sound. However, don’t think of Mensa as a copy cat or anything of the sort, he defiantly has a unique style of rapping along with unique lyrics. He is defiantly worth the listen and this mixtape is worth a spot in your iTunes.
