March 6 & 12 – Movies of India

Whether you’re looking for an eclectic mix of culture and fun, or just hoping to dodge the frosty March weather, NW Film Center’s Indian film festival is the perfect way to spend a winter afternoon. Ten Indian films will be screened at Whitsell Auditorium, 1219 S.W. Park Ave on March 6 and 12 as part of their twice monthly Indian series. The collection is meant to be a primer on popular Indian cinema and includes classic films like “Mother India,” ”Awaara,” “Pyaasa” and “Devdas.”  Tickets are $8 for students, $9 for adults. Box offices open 30 minutes prior to showtime.

 

April 2 – Flock Party

Lincoln’s third annual gathering, charity and auction, the Flock Party, is the perfect way to usher in spring. It’s not only a fun time complete with drinks, dining and dancing, but it comes back to help Lincoln students. Funds go towards the LHS Foundation to support teachers, PTSO to supplement academic programs and the Booster Club to support athletic teams and clubs, art, music and other extracurriculars. The festivities will start at 5 p.m. and will be held at the MAC, address.. Prizes up for auction include a sailboat cruise on the Columbia. Attendance is free.

 

Month of March – Big Movie Releases

It’s a big year for the film industry with highly anticipated movies to be released, and many of those will be in theaters in March. The film most action fans are excited for is “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” one of the only times the two characters have been featured together. As for sequels, “The Divergent Series: Allegiant” and “10 Cloverfield Lane” are among the most awaited of the month. March will also see the release of “The Brother Grimsby.” The comedy will be Sacha Baron Cohen’s first major motion picture role since “The Dictator” (2012). Check online for showtimes and tickets.
