Lacrosse boys whack Central 12-3 in state playoffs

UPDATE: Lincoln lost to Jesuit 12-7 in the state quarterfinals May 29.

UPDATE: The Cardinals will play the Jesuit Crusaders at Jesuit in state playoff action tonight (Friday) at 7 p.m.

A five-goal scoring blitz in the second quarter helped propel the boys’ lacrosse team to a 12-3 victory over Central Catholic in the second round of the state playoffs May 22 on Mike Walsh Field.

“All we have to do is what we’ve done,” said a spirited coach Will Harris, as he spoke with his team at halftime with the score already 7-0. And the undefeated Columbia League champion Cardinals responded with five more goals in the second half of the game.

High scorer for Lincoln was John Duffy with three goals in the first half. Two goals each were smacked in by Nick Marcey, Ben Bruce, and Will Holmes; and Lock Rohan, Grant Director, and Tom Laverde popped in one goal apiece.

Lincoln faces host Jesuit May 29 in round three of the playoffs.
