Track Teams Post Best Marks at Invite

Fresh from top performances at the Laker Invitational April 4, the track teams travel to Sunset April 7.

A double win by Karl Sanft in the shot and discus and a victory by the 1600m relay team propelled the varsity boys track team to a second-place finish behind Central Catholic at the 11-school invitational held at Lake Oswego High School.

Sanft threw the shot 51.01 feet and hurled the discus 1543.10 feet, the second farthest throw in state this season. The relay team of Gabe Collins, Jaray Kindell, Mor’quise Robinson, and Ryan Fujita posted a time of 3:27.86.

The girls placed fifth, paced by a victory from Tess Michaelson in the 800m (2:12.59), the fastest time in the state. Second-place finishes were posted by Mackenzie Hutchinson in the 1500m (5:14.65), the 400m relay team of Rubie Cordey, Jada Smith, Lily Harold, and Adrianna Coates (50.4); and the 1600m relay team of Cordey, Smith, and Tess and Samara Michaelson (4:06.17).
